The South East chapter of the Association is delighted to host a webinar with Dr. Aidan Duane of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) on the ever topical subject of blockchain. This lunchtime event will take place on Tuesday, 9 February 2021 at 1pm.
Designed as an introductory business-oriented presentation to Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology, the session will include examples from across multiple industries to suit all interests, and a process by which organisations can evaluate Blockchain’s “fit” for the business/task in hand. It will also provide an overview of the blockchain/DLT landscape nationally and internationally as it is evolving, with discussion of the legal ramifications with respect to smart contracts in an Irish, EU and international context.
Programme Director for the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Business Information Systems (BIS) at WIT, Aidan specialises in FinTech, Data Modelling and Data Analytics, and Programming for Data Science and serves as research supervisor for PhDs, the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) and for MSc programmes. His research has been published in multiple journals including the International Journal of Information Management (IJIM), Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Electronic Markets (EM), Behaviour and Information Technology (BIT), and the VINE Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems. Aidan is currently the Principal Investigator in a Blockchain Insurance as a Service (IaaS) Enterprise Ireland funded project.
