The South East chapter of the Association is delighted to host a lunchtime webinar with Carolynn Chalmers, CEO of the Good Governance Academy, on Thursday, 3 March at 1pm. Designed as an introduction to ISO 37000, the first-international standard for organisational governance, key topics that will be covered are as follows:
- The purpose of the standard
- The governance conditions, principles and key aspects of practice recommended by the standard and
- The results organizations can expect to achieve when applying the standard
The International Organization for Standardization has published the first-ever international benchmark for good governance with unanimous approval. The International Standard, ISO 37000, provides guidance for the governance of organizations and a common language for all sizes and types of organizations across jurisdictions. This standard is important for all organizations but especially those involved in international trade, making use of international suppliers, or receiving international investment.
Carolynn Chalmers is the Chief Executive Officer of Professor Mervyn King’s Good Governance Academy and manages Africa’s largest online governance social network. She assists leaders and leadership teams to understand and apply governance principles to create value for their organisations, making use of her expertise and experience in corporate governance, organizational strategy, Digital Transformation and IT.
Carolynn is Chair of the South African Bureau of Standards Technical Committee for the Governance of Organizations and co-editor of ISO 37000 – Governance of organizations – Guidance which is now in final draft. She has extensive management, assurance and governance experience and has held various Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Board, Board Committee and Executive roles for international, listed, private and public organisations across many industries.
